Nice to know about registration.....

Shooting shirts are included for each player with your participation fee.  There is no additional fee for the shooting shirt.

All uniforms purchased are yours to keep after the season.

New uniforms do not have to be purchased each year.  If the uniform from the previous year still fits your player they can use that uniform for the upcoming season.

We recently started a turn-in program for old (but in good condition) uniforms to be re-used by athletes that are on scholarship, to help minimize costs. If you would like to turn in old uniforms please email our Uniform/Clothing Coordinator at clothing@owatonnabasketball.com.

If you are unsure of the uniform or shooting shirt sizes, please register online and then visit Court Sports for sample uniforms that can be tried on to get your player the best fit.

When you register with the same Sport Engine account you used in the past, the registration process will allow you to select players from past registrations. This will pre-fill the registration forms with many of the answers you provided previously, simplifying the registration process.

If  your child registers but is not get placed on a team after player evaluations, your registration fees will be refunded in full.  Once your child is placed on a team, registration fees will no longer be refunded.

How are evaluations made?

OBA makes use of the following strategies during evaluations: 1) equal opportunity; 2) team play and skill assessment; 3) independent evaluation.

  • Equal Opportunity: Team groupings for scrimmages during evaluations are changed several times so that each player will play with and against many different players. An effort is made to equitably distribute height on the scrimmage teams.
  • Team Play and Skill Assessment: Drills are used to provide an opportunity for evaluators to observe basic skills. Scrimmages give evaluators a chance to observe skills, along with a player’s abilities to use these skills in a game-like situation. Scrimmages also allow evaluators to observe a player’s approach to team play.
  • Previous knowledge of player’s skills, work ethic, and capabilities based on observations at summer camps, open gyms, skills camps, or any other basketball related activities.
  • Team Placement: Team placement is 100% decided upon via the evaluation process by the high school staff and non-parent OBA coaches.
