Elk's Hoop Shoot

The 2022-23 Owatonna Elks Lodge No. 1395 Hoop Shoot will be held Wednesday, December 28, 2022


Owatonna Elks Lodge No. 1395 is hosting the annual Elks Hoop Shoot again this year. The Hoop Shoot is a national free throw contest that has been developing gritty kids for 50 years.

Youth ages 8 to 13 compete in local contests, shooting 25 free throws. One winner from each of the six groups is eligible to advance to the District contest. Winners at District can advance to State, Regional and to the National Finals in Chicago, if they keep winning.

This event is open to girls and boys who will be between the ages of 8 and 13 on April 1, 2023. If a contestant is 13 now, but will turn 14 before April 1, 2023, they are too old to participate. If a contestant is 7 now, but will turn 8 before April 1, 2023 they are eligible to compete.


The six age groups are:

· Girls age 8-9, 10-11 and 12-13.

· Boys age 8-9, 10-11 and 12-13.

Ages 8-9 shoot four feet closer than the regulation free throw line. Ages 8-9 and 10-11 use a 28.5” ball. Ages 12-13 use a 29.5” ball.

This event will be held Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at the Owatonna Middle School located at 500 15th St NE, Owatonna MN. Registration is from noon to 12:30 at the Middle School. Late registration is not allowed.

The contest starts at 12:30 and will go on until the competition is complete.

All participants MUST wear clean, dry footwear in the gym.
