COVID

The presence of COVID will force us to operate differently this season.  The health and safety of our players and coaches will be our top priority.  Our core guiding principles will balance participation in competitive basketball with the prevention of COVID-19 infection and spread.  We ask for your patience and flexibility as we work through the season.

COVID Cases and Reporting

It is imperative OBA knows about any positive cases, close contacts or meaningful symptoms so we can take steps to stop the spread within our teams.  Please report any COVID cases that impact players at the survey below as well as to your coach.  Thanks for your help to keep all our players and coaches safe and healthy this year!

Safe Return to Play

OBA has published an Owatonna Basketball Association Return to Play COVID-19 Safety Procedures & Plan that outlines necessary changes.  We ask you to read through these important details.  As we move sports indoors, it presents additional challenges that we need all players, coaches, and parents to abide by.  Please check back to this page for updates as more resources and updates will be added throughout the season.

Helpful Documents from MDH

Unsure about how to proceed with COVID cases, close contacts or symptoms?  Follow MDH's guidelines:

Facilities

OBA is heavily reliant on Owatonna Public School facilities to hold practices and host our home tournament.  We don’t anticipate being able to service our team practice needs without the use of ISD761 facilities.  OBA will follow all district regulations and requests with respect to practice facilities.  If public facilities are not made available to outside programs like OBA, our season may be delayed, or the length of season adjusted accordingly.

If protocols are not followed, the district reserves the right to cancel all practices for the remainder of the season for the association.  This will be handled at an association level, not an individual team level.  If one group or team decides the rules aren’t mandatory, it will impact us all so please ensure you and your player are following all procedures.

OBA Waiver

A signed waiver is required to be returned to OBA in order to participate in the season.  You can download and print the form here.
